We have a series of workshops that offer parents a toolbox of skills for understanding and communicating with their children to build a positive relationship based on mutual respect. The tools provided are based in current research and have a foundation in Positive Psychology, Emotional Intelligence and Life Coaching.
We all know adolescence can be a very trying time for both teenagers and their parents. Often it is parents who are caught in the middle between understanding their role in the school environment and meeting the needs of their child. Parents often feel as though they are left in the dark when it comes to not only understanding adolescence but engaging with them to build positive relationships. These programs offer both parents and teachers strategies on how to move forward.
We also offer small group or one-on-one coaching to provide parents with an understanding of adolescent development supported by strategies used to inspire and empower. We explore how the generation gap influences values, beliefs and expectations and what we can do to bridge it. We use humourous stories to make light of the struggles we may face and begin to understand how we can best communicate with our children.
Parents are presented with a toolbox of skills that promote listening, observing & effective questioning. Boundaries, expectations and the issue of respect are also discussed. Parents are encouraged to laugh, share and look at ways to work with the school to establish a unified approach in guiding and supporting their children to reach their potential.
Parents will leave feeling informed, empowered and relieved about the positive possibilities ahead.
A typical program runs for approx 2hrs
1. Strategies to coach your teen in career planning or study skills
2. Bridging the communication gap – how to get along without doors slamming
3. Tools to build resilient children – reframing bullying
