Are You Doing a Good Job?
I don’t know about you, but I think educators have a slightly warped relationship with the words “I’m doing a good job.”
We’ll happily notice what everyone else is doing well, but when it comes to ourselves, we’re much more likely to focus on the email we forgot, the conversation we could have handled better, the thing still sitting on the to-do list… and the 27 other things we probably should have done by now.
Meanwhile, life keeps getting faster and education certainly isn’t getting simpler.
Which is why I think one of the most useful things we can do for ourselves right now is create some space to stop, think and remember that we’re human.
Not machines. Not endlessly available problem-solvers. Not responsible for fixing every person and every problem that wanders into our orbit.
Human beings who are actually far more capable than we give ourselves credit for.
That’s a big part of what we do inside the Reignite Room.
We talk honestly about the challenges of working in education, share practical tools for navigating them, and build our Professional Wellbeing Intelligence so we have more choice in how we respond when things get messy.
There’s no magic wellbeing wand in there. I checked.
But there is a community of educators learning how to work with more awareness, better boundaries, stronger conversations and a little more kindness towards themselves.
And right now, that feels pretty important.
The doors to the Reignite Room are closing 30th September 2026, so if you’ve been hovering around the edges thinking, “I really should check that out…” this is your nudge.
One Small Shift
Before you add something else to your mental list today, ask yourself:
“What am I actually doing well right now?”
Give yourself ten seconds to answer it without adding a “but”.
You’re probably doing a much better job than you think.
