Small Reminders Make a Big Difference

Have you ever noticed that you can know all the right things about boundaries, difficult conversations and looking after yourself… and then completely forget them when you’re in the middle of a messy week?

I think this is one of the biggest misunderstandings we have about educator wellbeing. We assume we need to learn more, when often what we actually need is something that helps us notice what’s happening and remember what we already know at the moment we need it.

That’s something Carmen told me she loves about the Reignite Room.

For her, it’s the micro reminders that prompt her to check in with herself and come back to what matters most, particularly when she notices herself slipping into rescue mode, trying to fix things for others or simply over-caring.

I suspect a few of us know that pattern well.

Caring is one of our greatest strengths in education, but it can also quietly become one of the things that exhausts us.

Caring becomes over caring and supporting becomes rescuing. Being helpful becomes taking responsibility for things that were never entirely ours to carry.

This is where Professional Wellbeing Intelligence becomes useful. It gives us the awareness and language to catch ourselves in those moments and make a more conscious choice about what happens next.

For Amanda, a school leader, the Reignite Room has created a different kind of ripple with her team where she shares the monthly tools. This gives them a common language and prompts better conversations across the school.

These are the foundations of Teacher Wellbeing 2.0 that I often talk about.

When one educator changes the way they respond, ask a question or approach a difficult conversation, it rarely stops with them. Other people experience that difference too.

That’s why the Reignite Room isn’t another course you have to get through.

You can dip in, take what you need and use it where it matters — for yourself, with a colleague, in a team meeting or across your school.

Until 30 September 2026, you can join us at the original birthday foundation rate of $37/month.

One Small Shift

This week, notice the moment you feel the urge to jump in and fix something for someone else. Before you do, ask yourself:

“Do they need me to fix this, or do they need me to help them think?”

That tiny pause can protect your energy while also giving the other person more ownership.
